George Weston Recital Hall (in the Meridian Arts Centre)

The Toronto Centre for the Arts opened in 1993 and became the Meridian Arts Centre in September of 2019. It houses four theatres. Along with annual series by several Toronto orchestras, the Centre has presented countless individual performers and Broadway musicals and is home to the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company.  The George Weston Recital Hall is the largest theatre in the complex, with capacity for 1036. The audience is seated on two levels: the Orchestra and the Dress Circle, which wraps around the stage. Wheelchair seating is available on both levels.

  • On show days, the Meridian Arts Centre Box Office at 5040 Yonge Street opens two hours before the first show time and closes half an hour after the final show time.
  • Daytime box office hours are Monday-Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

  • The left and right parterre sections consist of two raised rows down each far side of the orchestra. Wheelchair seating is available at the front of both sections.

Seat count: Dress Circle = 265, Loge = 50, Choir Loft = 85

  • The dress circle consists of eight rows in the centre back of the theatre and two rows down each side.
  • The loge offers a side view of the stage from two rows on each side, and the choir loft offers a back view from three rows behind the stage.
  • Row E in the centre dress circle can accommodate four patrons in wheelchairs.

      • Underground parking is available under the Meridian Arts Centre with direct assess to the theatre. It is wheelchair accessible with ramps.
      • Infrared hearing assist devices are available free of charge at the coat check.
      • A limited number of booster seats are also available free of charge at the coat check.
      • Contact the Box Office if you have specific questions regarding wheelchair seating or seating suitable for patrons with limited mobility.
